Kevin Spacey's bro works at a gas station here in my town and he's a bit of a legend. In addition to the usual gas station uniform, he wears mirrored glasses, a punk-rock pyramid belt w/a giant mid-'90s cell clippped onto it, and dozens of silver rings and bracelets. He told me once "all my girlfriends gave them to me." Most notable is his prefectly coiffed, frosted Rod Stewart mullet. He does look a lot like the Rod. If you're a girl, which I am, he'll try to hand you back your change in a "sexy" manner, sliding the coins slowly across your palm. He wears this get-up --- the jewelry, the hair, and the gas station uniform --- everywhere. He'd tell me all about how he's Kevin Spacey's brother and how he has over 3,000 pics of Kevin that have never been published. He'd tell me all the things he was selling on eBay that week to raise funds to publish this book --- a candle shaped like a peace sign, or a Felix the Cat clock, etc. Everyone threats him like a figure of fun; they all call him "Sir Rod."
One day he came into the print shop where I work with a copy of this aforementioned book. We made reproductions to send off to publishers. All of us were flipping through it after he left. At first we were all giggliing, then it became extremely uncomfortable. The book's hardly about Kevin at all, it's mostly about him (Randy/Rod) and how he got abused, and the minor successes in his life, like when he played drums at the Hi-Ho Club with a popular local bar rock band. I've never felt more in my life like one of those smug hipster creeps from a Daniel Clowes comic.

hey Baaderonixx, i wouldnt waste my time arguing with the ghost of black elegance or whatever charecter
he will waste ur time debating with u with his single dimensional knowledge he acquired in his past and has no tact or understanding the ABC'S of debating

to him the song is not about christianity but ONLY concerns a specific figure from the christian mythology who happens to be a leading name well espeacially in the bible.
however Ghost seems to be quite convinced that the song is NOT about the John who composed the book of revolutions. (no just because he wrote the book of revolutions, why would he be called the revelator right? that seems to be so unreasonabole of a thing to understand for him. since he is better off hanging on the any prior information he gathered on the topic and turns a blind eye to the new information he comes across and start cussing and cursing

Yeah, I had to wait three excel threads before I got to do this one!

The new thread title sucks ass: it's not searchable! If anyone ever feels like compiling the entire history of ILX roffles, he or she will have to remember that this one has been unconventionally named, or else sit around wondering why no one on the forum said anything funny for the first three weeks of November.

er, just have an admin put ("excelsior") somewhere in the thread title?

jagged little filly (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 31 October 2005 18:23 (twenty years ago)

That would be too easy!

Personally, I think it would be great if some future scholar spent their entire life trying to work out why no one said anything funny on ILX in November 2005. It'd be like finding some long lost Pharoh.

"in November 2005"

jagged little filly (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 31 October 2005 18:33 (twenty years ago)

"One of our excelsiors is missing"

ladies and gentlemen, please. the clearest solution is to re-title the excelsior thread when--or should I say "if"--it is ever located again.

Who searches out old Excelsior threads?

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Monday, 31 October 2005 20:33 (twenty years ago)

sometimes a man gets to rememberin' and to searchin'

I remember one of them had "3xc3lsi0r" in the thread title, or something similar.

I only just noticed my bad spelling of "Kleptomania".

(or did I cut/paste it from the HMHB lyrics site? I don't recall)

I once worked with a very good-looking Danish woman, who was cheerful and pleasant to boot. One day I wheeled around with a sheet of A4 in my hand and it sliced right into her eyeball. She shrieked and started grabbing at her eye. Luckily, she was wearing contacts. In the bathroom, she flushed out her eye and fished a neatly sliced half-contact out of it. We couldn't find the other half, though, so she went to the hospital. I tried to parlay it into a date but it didn't work.
